From 1978 to 1999, USA Walther PPK/S were manufactured by Ranger Manufacturing in Gadsden Alabama and distributed by Interarms. S prefix serial number, indicates an Interarms, 'Under License of', 'Made in USA' (Ranger Mfg) Stainless PPK/s in.380 edited to update serial numbers. This nice little 1987 vintage Walther PPK (manufactured by Ranger in the USA) came home from the LGS yesterday - making 2013 a real Walther year for me! It's in the K005xxx serial number area, probably just a few thousand into Ranger's licensed manufacturing run. Walther adapted by putting the PPK barrel and Slide on a PP Frame giving a slightly taller pistol. Around 1983 Interarms made a deal with Walther to assemble PPK/S and PPK from Walther made parts into complete pistols. I believe that they started with the PPK/S because Walther had those parts made and soon were making a real PPK.

Though a blowback like most of its predecessors and constructed of a slide that surrounded a fixed barrel in much the same manner as the earlier Model 8, it possessed a wonderful DA that allowed the pistol to be carried with the chamber loaded and the hammer all the way forward.

its a Walther PP in 7.65 (.32?) There are very few markings on it ,a few stamps of acceptance and the matching serial numbers. The usual Walther' scroll and model designation are not on the slide - nor does it appear to have been re-blued, I read that this was a wartime procedure to speed up manufacture, but I dont know.
